Rock Creek Reservoir Campground is on the eastern side of Mt. Hood National Forest. The campground is popular with families who enjoy the lake for boating and fishing. Wonderful views of Mt. Hood can be found at the day-use area. Nearby forest roads are good mountain biking tracks.

Rock Creek Reservoir Campground has 33 campsites. Of those, 28 can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. The other five are for tents only. Eight campsites are waterfront. The campground is nicely shaded by Ponderosa pines.

General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. Check carefully on the website when you make your reservation to be sure your vehicle will fit your campsite.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, firewood from outside the area is not permitted.

Attractions and Activities

  • For some off-road fun on quads or bikes, head over to Rock Creek OHV
  • Spend a day or more at beautiful Trillium Lake with boating, swimming, and fishing.
  • Drive up to Timberline, a famous ski resort on the slopes of Mt. Hood. Timberline. Take a look at historic Timberline Lodge (1937). Enjoy the bike park. Play in summer snow. Ride the Magic Mile Chairlift, discover amazing mountain biking trails, and hike on the Pacific Crest Trail.
  • Visit Wildwood Recreation Site in Welches. At the Wildwood Recreation Site discover the Cascade Streamwatch Trail with an underwater fish viewing chamber.
  • Visit Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Area for summer fun such as scenic chair lift rides, music, events, and hiking.
  • Head over to Lost Lake for hiking, boat rentals, and fishing for rainbow trout.
  • From Hood River drive south on Highway 35 for magnificent views of Mt. Hood, nearby peaks, and the wonderful Mt. Hood National Forest.
  • Stop by for a picnic at Toll Bridge Park off Highway 35.
  • Hike to 100-foot Tamanawas Falls. Park at the Tamanawas Falls Trailhead.

Key Rock Creek Reservoir Campground Regulations

  1. Gas powered engines are not allowed on the lake.
  2. Quiet Hours extend from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
  3. Prevent the spread of invasive pests by obtaining firewood locally.
  4. Fires are only permitted in designated fire receptacles and must be attended. Fires must be extinguished upon departure.
  5. Pets must be kept on leash and attended at all times.
  6. Secure food and scented items from bears.
