Green Canyon Campground is on the Salmon River (shown above), 4.4 miles south of Welches in the Mt. Hood National Forest. Visitors to the campground enjoy hiking along the trail that follows the Salmon River for miles through old-growth forest. Other trails lead into the nearby Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness.
Green Canyon Campground has 15 campsites for RVs, trailers, and tents. Mature trees provide ample shade for most campsites. Sites 7 - 15 are closest to the river. There is no drinking water at the campground.
Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. Check carefully on the website when you make your reservation to be sure your vehicle will fit your campsite.
In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, firewood from outside the area is not permitted.

Attractions and Activities
Visit Wildwood Recreation Site in Welches. At the Wildwood Recreation Site discover the Cascade Streamwatch Trail with an underwater fish viewing chamber.
Head over to Lost Lake for hiking, boat rentals, and fishing for rainbow trout.
From Hood River drive south on Highway 35 for magnificent views of Mt. Hood, nearby peaks, and the wonderful Mt. Hood National Forest.
Visit Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Area for summer fun such as scenic chair lift rides, music, events, and hiking.
Spend a day or more at beautiful Trillium Lake with boating, swimming, and fishing.
Drive up to Timberline, a famous ski resort on the slopes of Mt. Hood. Timberline. Take a look at historic Timberline Lodge (1937). Enjoy the bike park. Play in summer snow. Ride the Magic Mile Chairlift, discover amazing mountain biking trails, and hike on the Pacific Crest Trail.
Key Green Canyon Campground Regulations
Fires are only permitted in designated fire receptacles and must be attended. Fires must be extinguished upon departure.
Pets must be kept on leash and attended at all times.
Quiet Hours extend from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
Prevent the spread of invasive pests by obtaining firewood locally.
