Mildred Kanipe Memorial Park Campground

Mildred Kanipe Memorial Park is 7 miles northeast of Oakland, mid-way between Cottage Grove and Roseburg. The 1,100 acres of park land were gifted to Douglas County by Mildred Kanipe in her will. The property includes pastures, forests, rolling hills, and creeks. Friends of Mildred Kanipe Memorial Park have been working at "restoring, improving, maintaining and protecting the natural resources of the park".

The park is more than just an equestrian center. It includes forest hiking trails, equestrian trails, historic ranch structures, an old schoolhouse, a pond, a picnic area, roaming peacocks, an equestrian pavilion, and a campground.

Mildred Kanipe Memorial Park Campground has 15 equestrian sites and 5 non-equestrian sites. The equestrian sites include 1, 2, or 4-horse corrals.
