Hoodview Campground
Hoodview Campground is on the southwestern side of 1,500-acre Timothy Lake. Hoodview is one of 7 campgrounds around the lake operated by Portland General Electric in partnership with the Forest Service.
Anglers find fishing at Timothy Lake for eastern brook trout, rainbow trout, and Kokanee rewarding. Crawdad (crayfish) fishing is claimed to be the best in the state. Motorized boats are permitted with a 10 MPH speed limit. Non-motorized boats such as canoes, kayaks, and sailboats are popular on the lake.
Hoodview Campground has 41 campsites for RVs, trailers, and tents. Four of the sites are pull-throughs. Mature conifers offer ample shade to the campsites, and an understory of rhododendron bushes provides privacy between sites. As it names suggests, Hoodview Campground provides magnificent views of Mt. Hood in the distance across the lake. Most sites may be reserved ahead of arrival date, while some sites are kept as first-come, first-served sites.
2023 Notices: "In response to visitor feedback, we have changed select sites to a 2-week reservation window. These appear as "NR - Not Yet Released" until the reservation window opens. Other sites are still on the 6-month reservation window."
