Viento State Park Campground

Viento State Park is along the Columbia River Gorge, tucked between Interstate 84 and the river. Visitors to the park should expect loud highway and railroad noise, including train horns. Earplugs might be considered. Windsurfers gather at the park to take advantage of the strong breezes on the river. Many use the park as a base from which to explore all the wonderful attractions up and down the Columbia River Gorge.

Viento State Park Campground has 58 campsites with electric and water hook-ups and another 18 tent sites without hook-ups. Hook-up campsites are close to one another. Sites A1-A31 have the most train noise. Tent sites are across the highway, farthest from the railroad tracks and next to the Viento Creek Trail.

Take the 1-mile, fully handicapped accessible trail from Viento to the Starvation Creek waterfall. The trail takes you along a section of the Historic Columbia River Highway (a hiking trail now, no vehicles). Cycle along sections of the river using the Historic Columbia River Highway Bike Map
Take the short (0.6 miles) but steep hike up the Buck Creek Trail to a viewpoint overlooking the Columbia River Gorge
Hike up the Eagle Creek Trail past several beautiful waterfalls.
Tour the Bonneville Fish Hatchery and Visitor Center at Bonneville Dam.
Visit Blue Lakes Regional Park in Fairview.
Spend a day at Rooster Rock State Park with 3 miles of river access.
Stop at Bridal Veil Falls State Scenic Viewpoint near milepost 28 on the Historic Columbia River Scenic Highway (Exit 28).
Make the5-minuite walk to spectacular, 611-foot Multnomah Falls. Exit 31, a left-side exit off I-85.
Explore the Port of Cascade Locks.
Pay your 50 cent toll and walk across the Bridge of the Gods where the Pacific Crest Trail crosses the Columbia River.

Key Viento State Park Campground Regulations

Campfires may only be lit in provided fire rings.
Purchase firewood in the park. Collecting firewood is prohibited.
Bicycle riders under the age of 16 must wear helmets.
Quiet Hours are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
Use of generators is not permitted.
There is a 5 MPH speed limit in the campground.
Pets must be kept on leash and attended at all times. At night they must be kept in a vehicle or tent.
Secure all food and food containers in your vehicle. (Raccoons)
