Contorta Point Group Campground is beside a sheltered cove on the southern shore of Crescent Lake in the Deschutes National Forest.

Crescent Lake offers many attractions such as boating, water skiing, fishing, swimming, hiking, and mountain biking. A protected sandy beach near the campground is a wonderful spot for swimming and relaxing. The beach is shared with other visitors to the lake. Boats and mountain bikes can be rented at nearby Crescent Lake Resort.

Contorta Point Group Campground has 2 group sites. Each site can accommodate up to 40 people or they can be combined for groups up to 80. The campsites are within walking distance of the shore. Both sites are wheelchair accessible. Note that there is no drinking water.

General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. Check carefully on the website when you make your reservation to be sure your vehicle will fit your campsite.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, firewood from outside the area is not permitted.

Attractions and Activities

  • Spend days on the water boating, water skiing, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, or windsurfing.
  • Rent a boat from Crescent Lake Resort.
  • Hike on the Whitefish Creek Trail to Diamond View Lake or take the Windy Lakes Trail.
  • Drive to nearby Odell Lake or Summit Lake.
  • Use the Willamette Pass Trailhead for the Pacific Crest Trail. Hike north to Lower Rosary Lake or south toward Diamond Peak.
  • Take the 2.5-mile loop Diamond Creek Falls Trail providing views of Lower Diamond Creek Falls and Salt Creek Canyon. Be more adventurous and continue on to the upper falls.

Key Contorta Point Group Campground Regulations

  1. ATV / OHV riding is not permitted within the campground.
  2. Campfires may only be in campground provided fire pits.
  3. Dogs must be kept on leash and attended at all times.
  4. Help prevent the spread of invasive insects by obtaining firewood locally.
  5. Use of chainsaws is not permitted in the campground.
  6. Quiet Hours extend from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
