Imnaha Guard Station
Imnaha Guard Station is a Forest Service cabin in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, only 32 miles south of Crater Lake National Park (shown above). The secluded cabin makes a wonderful retreat for guests to enjoy the relaxing sounds of forest birds, and the gentle sway of old-growth Douglas-fir, white fir, and incense cedar. Settle in with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate in the pine-paneled living room before a lava-rock fireplace. Conveniences in the cabin such as hot and cold running water, a shower, and a flush toilet make Imnaha Guard Station a favorite among guests.
Guard Station Features
The Imnaha Guard Station bedroom has a full-size bed, a closet, and 2 dressers. In the kitchen are a table and chairs, a sink, and a small countertop. The refrigerator, stove, heater, and kitchen lights are all propane powered. Potable water is available at the kitchen faucet. Visitors to the cabin should bring their own cookware, utensils, and dishes. In the main room stands a lava-rock fireplace. A supply of firewood is outside in the garage, but late in the season supplies may run low.
Outside are a picnic table, parking area, horseshoe pit, and a fences yard. Nearby is a small campground with four sites. Campers may pass by the cabin, while they typically respect the privacy of the cabin occupants.
What Guests Need to Bring
Visitors to Imnaha Guard Station need to provide their own bedding, perhaps extra toilet paper, flashlights and battery-operated lanterns, first aid kit, washcloths and towels, silverware, wine opener, matches, dish soap and garbage bags. Visitors may want to bring an axe for splitting wood. Guests must clean the cabin upon departure and take everything they brought, including garbage and food.
