Lava Lake Campground

Lava Lake Campground sits on the shore of 368-acre Lava Lake, about 25 miles south-southwest of Bend. Visitors to the lake have good success fishing for rainbow and brook trout. A boat ramp and a fish cleaning station are in the campground. Both motorized and non-motorized boating are permitted in Lava Lake. Good hiking trails are available, including a trail leading into the Three Sisters Wilderness.

Lava Lake Campground features 44 campsites. Most sites can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents, while 5 campsites are designated for tents only. Mature lodgepole pines offer both shade and separation between campsites. Four sites have pull-through driveways.

Lava Lake Campground Location: From Bend, Oregon, drive about 38 miles west on County Road 46 (Cascade Lakes Hwy). Then turn onto Forest Road 4600 500 for 1 mile to the campground.

General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. Check carefully on the website when you make your reservation to be sure your vehicle will fit your campsite.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, firewood from outside the area is not permitted.

Key Lava Lake Campground Regulations

  1. Pets must be kept on leash and attended at all times.
  2. Avoid problems with bears by securing food and scented items in a vehicle or other bear-proof locker.
  3. Quiet Hours are from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
  4. Prevent the spread of invasive pests by obtaining firewood locally.
  5. Fires are only permitted in designated fire receptacles and must be attended. Fires must be extinguished upon departure.
