Fall Creek State Recreation Area is 27 miles southeast of Eugene on the shore of Fall Creek Reservoir. The reservoir offers varied recreation opportunities from hiking and bicycling to swimming and fishing. Boating and waterskiing are popular on the lake's 1,852 acres. Two campgrounds are located at the lake's eastern end - Cascara Campground and a group RV campground called Fisherman's Point.

Cascara Campground has 39 primitive sites spread through a forest of Douglas firs. Campers find good privacy. Some sites have views of the lake. All the campsites in Cascara Campground are first-come, first-served.

Fisherman's Point is composed of 8 sites, each of which can accommodate 8 people. All 8 can be reserved for groups up to 64. Campsites in the group area must be reserved. The campground is along Fall Creek at the upper end of the reservoir.

  • A boat launch ramp and swim beach are near Cascara Campground.
  • Four small day-use areas are located on the north side of the lake. Winberry is the largest. It features flush restrooms, a swim dock and swim beach, boat ramps, and picnic areas with barbeques and fire rings.
  • Enjoy boating, water skiing, fishing, and hiking.

General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. Check carefully on the website when you make your reservation to be sure your vehicle will fit your campsite.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, firewood from outside the area is not permitted.

Designated Accessible sites are reserved for people with disabilities who have a vehicle displaying an accessible parking placard or license plate

Attractions and Activities

  • Seek out the many local hiking trails.
  • Winberry Day-use Area has flush restrooms, a swim dock and swim beach, boat ramps, and picnic areas with barbeques and fire rings.
  • Visit North Shore Day-use Park with a launch ramp at the North end of the dam.
  • Drop by Free Meadow Small Day Use Park on the north side of the lake.
  • Find Lakeside I and II-Small Day Use Parks on the north side of the lake.
  • Fish for rainbow trout.
  • Birders have regular sightings of Vesper Sparrow, Western Bluebird, Tree Swallow, and occasionally Rock Wren.
  • Visit the Unity Covered Bridge just downstream from the reservoir on Fall Creek. Find the Pengra Covered Bridge a little farther downstream.
  • Take a hike starting at the Fall Creek trailhead #1. Fall Creek Trailhead #1.

Key Fall Creek Campground Regulations

  1. Quiet Hours are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  2. Dogs must be kept on leash and attended at all times.
  3. Campfires may only be in campground provided fire pits.
