Exit 14 in Ashland off I-5, east on Highway 66 for one mile, then Dead Indian Memorial Rd. (Mountain Lakes) 17 miles to Hyatt Prairie Rd. Travel 3½ miles on Hyatt Prairie Rd. to the resort.
Howard Prairie Resort Campground
Howard Prairie Resort is on the west shore of Howard Prairie Lake, 21 miles east of Ashland. The resort is one of 7 parks that Jackson County operates around the 2000-acre lake. Visitors enjoy a range of water activities from sailing and waterskiing to fishing and swimming.
The lake also offers opportunities for hiking and horseback riding. Facilities and services at Howard Prairie Resort include a marina, a 4-lane launch ramp, boat rentals, moorage, fuel, an accessible fishing jetty, a restaurant, and a store.
Howard Prairie Resort Campground has 243 campsites spread through a wooded area close to the lake. Fifty-one of the sites have full hook-ups, 80 have water and electric hook-ups, and the other 112 are known as basic campsites with no hook-ups. A good number of campsites are lake-front. Showers are free. A 2-night minimum stay at the campground is required on weekends from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
