Stub Stewart State Park is only 34 miles northwest of Portland on a forested mountainside. Visitors to the park enjoy hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking along the park's many trails. The 21-mile Banks-Vernonia State Trail passes through the park with a number of access points available.
Stub Stewart State Park's Dairy Creek Campground features 90 campsites with great amenities. Full RV hookups are available at 78 of the sites while another 12 sites are walk-in tent sites. Restrooms have flush toilets. Nearby is a playground and a 3-hole beginners disc-golf course. A full 18-hole course is located near the Hilltop Day-use Area.
The Brooke Creek Camp is a ⅓-mile walk from the parking area in a quiet retreat of 20 tent sites with vault toilets and 2 communal fire rings. Half of the sites can be reserved, the others are first-come, first-served.
For those who prefer a few more comforts, Stub Stewart has 15 cabins.
"Sites are spacious and open. There is not a lot of vegetation between the sites.
Tents may be put up in each site however metal tent stakes must be used. The tent pad area is packed gravel and plastic stakes will not work."

The cabins at Stub Stewart Park, located in their Mountain Dale Cabin Village, have an occupancy of up to 5 people (including children). Cabins are equipped with a futon and set of bunk beds (bring your own bedding). Each cabin has electric lights, heat, and outlets. Also, find a table and 4 chairs. Outside is a covered porch with a bench, a picnic table, and a fire ring. Most cabins are ADA accessible. A restroom with showers is centrally located.
No cooking is permitted inside the cabin. Pet-friendly cabins are $10 more per night (maximum 2 pets, dogs or cats only.

Hares Canyon Horse Camps
At Hares Canyon Horse Camp, Stub Stewart State Park offers 13 well-equipped campsites for those with horses. Each campsite has a 4-stall corral, full hook-ups, picnic table, and fire ring. Campers are limited to 1 RV or camping trailer with 2 vehicles total (fee for 2nd vehicles). Horses cannot be left unattended overnight.

Group Horse Sites
Two group horse camps are located within the Hares Canyon Horse Camp - sites #9 and 10. Each site can accommodate up to 16 people. A 6-stall corral is provided. The sites have the same amenities as listed above.
