Sacandaga Campground sits on a terrace above the Middle Fork Willamette River in the Willamette National Forest south of Hills Creek Reservoir. Visitors to the campground enjoy the quiet of this little camping area. Trails lead down to the river for fishing. Check fishing regulations for the area at Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Other trails in the area are popular for mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding.

Sacandaga Campground offers 17 sites for RVs, trailers, and tents. The old-growth forest provides ample shade for campers. Each campsite is well separated from the others by vegetation. All campsites are first-come, first-served.

Sacandaga Campground Location: Sacandaga Campground is south of Oakridge, first 1.7 miles on Highway 58 and then south on Hills Creek Rd./Kitson Springs Rd. for 0.5 miles. Finally turn right on Forest Road 21 for 24.6 miles.

Attractions near Sacandaga Campground: Hike along the Moon Point Trail Area of the Middle Fork Willamette River Trail. Follow either of two trails from the campground to the river. Enjoy a viewpoint near campsite 4.




General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. Check carefully on the website when you make your reservation to be sure your vehicle will fit your campsite.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, firewood from outside the area is not permitted.

  • Enjoy the multi-use, 27-mile long Middle Fork National Recreation Trail.
  • Enjoy boating, water skiing, fishing, and swimming at Hills Creek Reservoir.
  • Fish along the Middle Fork of the Willamette River.
  • Visit the Warner Mountain Lookout.
  • Hike on the Larison Creek Trail.
  • Drop by the Oakridge Greenwaters Park for a picnic and a stroll along the river.
  • Go off-road at Huckleberry Flats OHV.
  • Visit Lowell State Recreation Site on Dexter Lake. Enjoy picnicking, a playground, basketball and a large lawn area with a swim beach.

Key Sacandaga Campground Regulations

  1. Use of chainsaws is not permitted in the campground.
  2. Quiet Hours extend from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
  3. Dogs must be kept on leash and attended at all times.
  4. Campfires may only be in campground provided fire pits.
