Nehalem Falls Campground
Nehalem Falls Campground is 13 miles east of the coastal town of Manzanita in the Tillamook State Forest. Visitors make the short hike to the low falls and fish ladder along the Nehalem River. In times of high water the falls appear more like frothing rapids. A 0.9-mile loop trail leads through magnificent stands of old-growth Sitka spruce and western hemlock. Fishing is good nearby and swimming is possible downstream from the falls when water levels are safe. The pool directly below the falls is not safe.
Nehalem Falls Campground has 15 campsites for RVs, trailers and tents. In addition, there are 5 walk-to tent sites. All campsites except the group site are first-come, first-served. In recent years the campground has grown in popularity and usually fills on weekends. The campground includes a group site for up to 20 people.
